Looking for ways to turn your backyard into a source of healthy,
delicious food? Or are you a new gardener looking to turn your yard
into a native-plant paradise? Don't fear the soil, novice gardener! An afternoon course at Seward Coop seeks
to answer all your questions about food production, native-plant use,
garden design, and more.
On Saturday, May 30, from 1:00pm-2:30pm, Russ Henry, owner of the wonderful
Giving Tree Gardens, will host a course called Healthy Yards, Healthy Lives: 7 Steps to Growing Personal and Global Health in Your Own Backyard, at the
Seward Coop. The 1.5-hour course is free, though registration is required.
Henry is also the landscaper of the native garden at Seward Coop, and he will provide a tour and discussion of the site as part of the free course. For a brief primer before the class, check out the
tips Henry shared with LiveGreenTwinCities on how to start a sustainable garden.
