This week's green events include the much-buzzed-about screenings of
Fresh, a film that looks at a new way of eating and puts a much-needed spotlight on the
environmental pollution, food contamination, and continued obesity
caused by processed foods and industrial farming. Check it out Tuesday evening, followed by a panel discussion, at the
Bryant Lake Bowl or the additional screening and panel discussion on Wednesday at the
Riverview Theater. Along with numerous expert interviews, the film also features Michael Pollan, author of
Omnivore's Dilemma and
An Eater's Manifesto, this month's pick for the
LiveGreenTwinCities book club! A trailer for
Fresh is below.
On Thursday afternoon, head to Twin Cities Green in Uptown for an
"Ask the Expert" event. The event includes a three-hour Q&A session on all things green, from home to business to food. After seeing
FRESH, your brain might be rattled with concerns and questions about about industrial farms, your diet, local farming, green eating, organic food, and more. Bring all of those thoughts and questions to the event, ask the experts, and meet other like-minded folks looking for ways to live a little greener.
Then, on Saturday, reward yourself with free swag bags, giveaways, and more at Birch Clothing in Minneapolis. The organic-clothing store is now carrying skincare products by the Nature of Beauty, an all-natural and organic cosmetics line. And on
Saturday they're celebrating with swag bags, refreshments, and drawings for makeovers, gift baskets, and more.
